NOVELS BY TOM TRUJILLO
Picture
This story of justice and historical reckoning is set in a mystical world where supernatural forces intersect with human struggles, highlighting the tension between poverty and power. It weaves together various movements where counterculture meets worker solidarity, and political corruption collides with spiritual vengeance.
In 1967, a door to another dimension opens when César Gaspard, a labor organizer for Tejano and Mexican farm workers, is brutally beaten and lynched following a violent labor strike. As he hangs from the noose, César vows to avenge his death. Mescalito, the ancient spirit of peyote who moves between dimensions, hears his prayers. With the help of a 150-year-old Mexican cowboy spirit, they set in motion an intricate web of seemingly unrelated events that ultimately leads to the hanging tree, where César’s spirit is finally released after achieving the revenge he sought.
Paul, a Vietnam veteran, and David, a draft dodger, grow weary of the party atmosphere in Haight-Ashbury. They leave San Francisco during the Summer of Love and head to a small town in Texas, intending to counsel young men to resist the draft. However, they soon discover a different kind of war being waged in their own country—a war on brown skin.

I couldn’t put this book down. It’s such an accurate depiction of a fantastic period of American history. It’s funny and full of love and compassion. It’s terrifying and an incredible read for anyone, whether you were living at that time or not.

Three stories interconnect about discovering love in difficult times. An artist creates a controversial painting inspired by his teenage son, titled “Jesus, The Teenage Years.” When the artwork is featured in an exhibit, it incites a group of radical evangelicals who attempt to destroy it. However, when their efforts fail and only generate more publicity for the artist, they plot to assassinate him. He is ultimately spared by a miraculous life-changing event that puts an end to the assassin’s mission and her relationship with her radical pastor.
A nineteen-year-old Jesus finds himself working as a building contractor and fighting the Roman occupation. He meets and falls in love with a young woman named Mary, and they end up traveling to Bethlehem to escape Roman soldiers after a riot. In Bethlehem, Jesus learns the truth behind his family’s flight to Egypt and leaving the innocent children to be massacred by Herod’s troops.
Two thousand years later, a young Marine becomes disillusioned with the pointless invasion of Iraq and questions America’s involvement in the Middle East. After witnessing an attack on innocent civilians, he wonders what Jesus might have done during the violent years of the Roman Invasion and decides to lay down his weapon.

Five million years ago, a race known as Celestins traveled to a barren planet to extract water hidden deep within the planet's surface and accidentally rip open the crust and release billions of tons of lava, boiling mud, and bacteria.
One million years later, the Celestins returned to repair the damage and find their “accident” had created Earth as we know it with fresh air, clean water, and a planet teeming with life. A group of 400 Celestins, our ancient ancestors, set out to explore, half of whom decided to remain. They name the planet, Erlthu, built settlements, and prospered. But, as magnificent and bountiful as the planet was, it was also fierce and unforgiving. The gentle soul of the Celestins was no match for the beasts and poisonous plants that had evolved to perfection. Over time, the Celestins hardened to survive and became as violent and cruel as the beasts of the planet.

Today, the Celestins have returned, this time to save Earth from centuries of destructive human activity that has brought civilization to the brink of extinction. Dr. Ron Fisher and thousands of others are taken aboard Celestin ships and asked to assist in destroying the fossil fuel industries before life on Earth ceases to exist. Dr. Fisher is trained to blast an agent into pipelines that will turn oil into a new compound named Ozite, capable of providing clean energy for eternity.

MIRACLES AND MURDER AND OTHER TRUE STORIES

Miracles and Murder, and Other True Stories is a collection of one man’s outrageous true-life experiences and adventures. Original, humorous, heart-warming, and profound, yet familiar enough to be enjoyed by anyone.
Told in the tradition of American folklore, Tom’s lucky breaks, miraculous occurrences, and avenging angels, who coexist with racist killers and angry bikers, make for fine storytelling and enjoyable reading.

"Whoa, wheeee, what a ride! Thank you Tom. Your book was a joy to read and your artwork is fantastic!  It was a sad day when I finished reading the last of your stories.  Kind of like saying goodbye to a fun evening of feasting with friends. I look forward to more books...love your sensitivity and your consistent voice. So many fun adventures and I can only imagine you have a ton more up your sleeve."  Emily Bording
