Provence, Kansas
Pastel on sandpaper
22 x 28 in.
The second
painting of my mischievous birds. Nothing sinister or complicated in this
scene. Just an afternoon of surviving without a retirement check to look
forward to. Although this is supposed to be about the birds, the geometry
of the fields and the man-made, colorful landscape is fascinating to look
at and to paint. I'm always surprised at people who don't look out the
window of a passenger plane to the ground below. I can't stop myself from
doing it. And by the end of a five hour flight my neck is totally stiff.
